What are dermal fillers or injectables?
There are many cosmetic injectable fillers that are available for those who want to reduce the signs of aging but who aren’t ready for cosmetic surgery. Fillers can plump thin lips, restore facial volume and fullness, soften facial creases and wrinkles, or improve the appearance of recessed scars. These treatments can be done in a short office visit with little or no recovery time.
What are the different types of fillers?
There are many types of dermal fillers. At Seamless Skin M.D. we offer hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane® and Juvederm®, that are closely related to a substance that naturally occurs in the body and is responsible for maintaining the fullness of our soft tissues. These fillers are all immediately dissolvable should a desired effect not be reached. The effects generally last for three months to two years depending on the exact product used.
What results can I expect after treatment?
Use of fillers offers immediate results, but those results vary depending upon the filler that is used and your degree of need. Dr. Woods will recommend the best filler for your particular areas of concern after consulting with you in her office. After having a filler injected, you might experience mild swelling, bruising, temporary numbness or redness. These effects can be alleviated with topical icing and will improve over the course of a few days. The injections are normally well-tolerated and complications are uncommon.
